Ariel Wilson
The work I make results from a curiosity in identity as related to storytelling, personal or communal histories, and ideas of impermanence. My intention is to make works that stimulate a similar curiosity in the viewer. I make images and objects with multiple layers of detail and varying degrees of clarity, which attempt to entice the viewer to make a closer inspection. The veiled and unobtrusive elements of my work function as a “hidden layer” that becomes like a secret that the viewer is privy to, in hopes that it will elicit a sense of intimacy between the viewer and the work.
